Electrical steel poles are made of materials such as polygonal steel pipes and circular steel pipes, using hot-dip galvanizing or hot zinc spraying (and zinc alloy) coating for anti-corrosion treatment. They are mainly used for power line erection and are considered alternatives to traditional cement poles. There are many advantages to electrical steel poles, such as those listed below:

The small footprint is the most significant advantage of electrical steel poles. Traditional transmission tower has the disadvantage of occupying large areas. Electrical steel poles occupy a small area, generally about one-third of self-supporting towers, and their top dimensions are much smaller than those of towers, requiring a narrower air line corridor. Therefore, electrical steel poles can meet environmental requirements in most cases and save on land costs.

This is another major advantage of electrical steel pole. In the current wave of urban construction and renovation, the aesthetics and livability of the city are receiving increasing attention from residents. Consequently, the requirements for the erection of power lines are getting higher, especially in terms of aesthetics. In particular, urban landscape roads have stricter requirements in this regard, which traditional poles and towers find hard to meet. Because of their compact structure and attractive, compact appearance, electrical steel poles can basically meet aesthetic requirements.


Electrical Steel Poles Are Simple and Quick to Construct


The construction of traditional towers requires an assembly process, whether overall assembly or sectional assembly, with comparable construction times. In contrast, the construction of electrical steel poles basically does not need an assembly process; after installing the cross arm on the steel pole, the pole can be erected immediately. The construction speed is much faster than that of towers. Generally, a construction team can erect 1.5 to 2 towers a day, while they can erect about 10 steel poles a day. Therefore, using steel poles can greatly improve construction efficiency and shorten the construction period.


Electrical Steel Poles Are Less Prone to Theft


The loss of tower materials in steel tower manufacturers has always been a major problem affecting the safe operation of towers. Although certain preventive measures have been taken, such as installing anti-theft bolts below six meters, the problem of material theft still occurs from time to time. Electrical steel poles are made by overall insertion or flange connection, which basically eliminates the phenomenon of lost components, reduces accident risks, and improves the health level of the lines.


In addition to the above advantages, electrical steel poles also have advantages such as a short production cycle and the ability to withstand greater stress.
